Brave effort by U19 Women29/04/2006
Sue Ronan’s U19 team were defeated 3 nil by world champions Germany in their final Elite Group 4 fixture today. The team performed with tremendous spirit and no little skill and the final score did not reflect the closeness of the contest. Ireland conceded the first goal mid way through the first half but were unlucky not to score an immediate equaliser. A defensive slip in the final stages led to the second German goal and the third arrived in the very last seconds as Ireland sought to respond
RISSC Team head west again28/04/2006
The title winning RISSC football team will retrace their pre-season steps when they travel to Castlebar on Saturday 27 May 2006 to renew their rivalry with Snugboro United. The squad, which is likely to be based in Westport, will return to London on Sunday evening. The Westport location may well result in that legendary chieftain Matt Molloy playing temporary host to Franklin’s Fusiliers
Finals dream ends for U19 Women…27/04/2006
Ireland fell to a disappointing defeat by Scotland in their second Elite Group 5 game on Thursday morning. The result was a bitter blow to manager Sue Ronan and the players as they dominated possession throughout. The old failure to convert any of the numerous chances created, spelled elimination for Ireland. A breakaway Scottish goal ten minutes before half time put pressure on Ireland. While chasing the equaliser, Ireland were caught out for a second Scottish goal towards the end of the game.


Victory for Butler’s Boys not enough…27/04/2006
Ireland scored a 1 nil success over Latvia in their final Group game at the Gradisca Tournament this afternoon. A fine free kick from the edge of the penalty area by Ian Daly after three minutes secured victory. The win however, was not quite enough to secure a place in the semi-finals as Ireland required one further goal to realise that ambition. Ireland will play one further consolation game before journeying home.


Butler’s Boys suffer another setback…26/04/2006
Despite dominating much of the play,
Ireland fell to a second one nil defeat in the Gradisca U16 Tournament on Wednesday afternoon. The team coped admirably with their physically stronger opponents, Serbia & Montenegro, and created several goal scoring opportunities. Their failure to convert their chances was again punished when a long range shot, some ten minutes from time, crept inside the post. Ireland will meet Latvia in their final Group fixture on Thursday afternoon with an outside chance of attaining second place and qualifying for the semi-finals

Opening defeat for Butler’s Boys…25/04/2006
Ireland’s Under 16 team fell to an opening day one nil defeat to Croatia in the Gradisca International Tournament. In a largely evenly matched contest, Ireland failed to convert two good chances in the first twenty minutes and ultimately paid the price. The deciding goal came three minutes into the second half when the Croatian centre back was allowed a free header from a corner. Ireland next face Serbia & Montenegro, who also slipped to an opening day defeat by Latvia.


Winning start for U19 Women25/04/2006
Sue Ronan’s Under 19 women’s team took three points from their opening European Championship Elite Group match in Slovenia on Tuesday afternoon. Second-half goals from Aine O’Gorman and Niamh Fahey gave the Irish ladies a well deserved victory. Ireland will now face Scotland in their second group game on Thursday afternoon.


U19 Women face Elite Challenge25/04/2006
Sue Ronan's U19 team meet hosts Slovenia in their opening Elite Qualifying Group 5 tie in Krizevci this afternoon. The squad left Dublin last Sunday in optimistic mood, after their excellent qualifying group results and two fine recent performances against Holland.


Butler's Boys open Tournament25/04/2006
The Republic of Ireland U16 team, managed by Vincent Butler, open the Tournament of Gradisca when they play Croatia this afternoon. The competition is taking place in the border regions of Italy, Austria and Slovenia. Today's game is being played in Mauthen, Austria.

St Kevin’s suffer cup defeat24/04/2006
The St Kevin’s Boys U13 team suffered their first defeat of the season last weekend. In the semi-final replay of the Brady Cup, the boys lost 3-1 to Cherry Orchard. In very windy conditions, St Kevin’s led 1-0 at the interval but two goals conceded in just over a minute, proved too much for a very tired but brave team.

Setanta Cup success for Drogheda24/04/2006
The fortunes of Paul Doolin’s Drogheda United continued their upward trend with Setanta Cup victory at Tolka Park on Saturday night. An extra time goal from U21 international, Mark Leech, secured a 1 nil win over Cork City and the €150,000 sponsor’s cheque.

Historic victory for Irish Women24/04/2006
Goals from Captain Ciara Grant and substitute, Olivia O’Toole, secured a well merited 2 nil success for Ireland over Switzerland on Saturday afternoon. In the first ever World Cup Qualifier played in Ireland, the team, managed by Noel King, was dominant throughout.

Football Team Race Night21/04/2006
The management of the club football team has arranged a ‘Race Night’ to be held at Captain Morgans in Greenford on the evening of Saturday 6 May 2006. Members and guests are invited to participate in the event by purchasing a horse. The ticket cost is £10 and a post race ‘Disco’ will lend further entertainment to the evening.


Women U17s lose to Holland12/04/2006
Marie Price Bolger’s U17 Women were unable to fully recover from their arduous outing of the previous day and fell to a 2 nil defeat by Holland in their second Nationwide International Tournament game. The team put in a brave performance but were undone by two second half goals from the Dutch women. The team will next be in action on Friday afternoon in the play-off section of the Tournament.

Drogheda to face Cork in Setanta Final11/04/2006
There will be an all southern Setanta Cup 2006 final on Saturday 22 April 2006. Current Eircom Premier Division leaders Drogheda United continued their rich vein of form with a 1-0 victory over Linfield in Windsor Park tonight. Drogheda will now go head to head with Cork City, who twice defeated them 2 nil in the group stages, in the Final. Drogheda did of course defeat Cork in last year’s FAI Cup Final and will be seeking to replicate that result.

FAIS Boys falter in Centenary Shield10/04/2006
The Irish Schoolboys team was held to a 1-1 draw by their counterparts from Northern Ireland in Finn Park tonight. FAIS took the lead mid-way through the first half with a fine strike from Declan Carroll of Palmerstown CS and Crumlin United. The team was unable to defend the lead and conceded the equaliser on seventy minutes. This is the first occasion that FAIS has failed to win the Centenary Shield since its inception. The trophy went to England Schools with whom FAIS drew 0-0 earlier in the series.

Women U17 draw with England10/04/2006
The Ireland Women’s U17 side opened their Nationwide International Tournament campaign with a 0-0 draw against hosts England. In difficult conditions at Clevedon Town FC, the Irish team, managed by Marie Price-Bolger, more than matched their opponents. Indeed, with a little more composure in front of goal, Ireland would have won. The team face Holland at Gloucester City FC, in their second Group B game on Tuesday night.

Cork City qualify for Setanta Final10/04/2006
Inspired by the heroics of goalkeeper Mark McNulty, which included a penalty save, Cork City tonight reached the final of the Setanta Cup 2006. A Turners Cross crowd of 5,500 saw an enthralling encounter with Shelbourne in which the hosts scored a deserved 2 nil victory. The Cork goals came from, Colin O’Brien after 34 minutes and seventeen minutes into the second half by Neale Fenn.

Rooney on target for Ireland06/04/2006
Stoke City striker Adam Rooney scored a last minute goal to give Sean McCaffrey’s U18 team a second victory over Hungary this afternoon. Rooney got his head to a cross from Simon Madden of Leeds United to secure a deserved 1-0 success for Ireland. Several players will have caught the eye of the manager, most notably Blackburn Rovers winger Keith Treacy who was hugely influential throughout the match.

U16s secure a draw in Belgium06/04/2006
Ireland recovered from their defeat by Belgium on Tuesday last with a much improved performance this evening. Vincent Butler’s boys took the lead on 31 minutes with a goal from Shane Duggan following fine approach play by Conor McCormack and Shane O’Connor. The hosts equalised 8 minutes into the second period but Ireland dominated the remainder of the match and were very unlucky not to secure victory.

Equality for women at AUL Complex06/04/2006
Sue Ronan’s Ireland U19 women’s team played out another 1-1 draw with Holland at the AUL Complex in Clonshaugh this morning. Ireland again dominated the majority of the game but were unable to convert their superiority into victory. A probing run after 13 minutes from the energetic Niamh Fahey provided Aine O’Gorman with a shooting chance which she accepted with aplomb. The Irish women were caught cold immediately following the start of the second half and conceded a soft equaliser. The Irish performance over both games gives rise to much optimism ahead of the upcoming UEFA Championship Elite Group games in Slovenia.

Victory over Hungary for U18s04/04/2006
Irish captain and Stoke City full back John Quigley scored the only goal of the game at Arklow Town this afternoon. A fine shot from the edge of the penalty area secured victory for Sean McCaffrey’s U18 side. The fixture, part of the preparations for the 2007 UEFA U19 Qualifying process, offered the opportunity to several players to not only seek selection for those championships but to also catch the eye of the manager for the impending Elite Stage of the 2006 Championships.

Butlers Boys slip to defeat04/04/2006
Vincent Butler’s highly regarded Irish U16 team fell to a disappointing 0-2 defeat by old rivals Belgium tonight. Ireland, led by Cherry Orchard midfield player James O’Brien, failed to take their chances in the KRC Stadium in Mechelen. Goals midway through each half enabled the hosts to achieve a deserved victory. The Irish squad will be determined to improve upon tonight’s result when the two sides meet again on Thursday evening.

U19 Women hold Holland…04/04/2006
Women’s U19 team manager Sue Ronan saw her charges earn a well merited draw with Holland in Richmond Park tonight. Ireland dominated much of the match but fell behind just after the hour mark. Substitute defender Niamh Fahey of Salthill Devon Ladies FC scored Ireland’s deserved equaliser with ten minutes remaining to record a 1-1 draw. The two sides will meet again at the AUL Complex, Clonshaugh at 11.00am on Thursday morning next.

Eircom League Cup round-up04/04/2006
In the first knockout round of the Eircom League Cup, there were 4 nil victories for Bohemians over Athlone Town in Pool B and Longford Town over the Mayo League in Pool C tonight. In Pool A, Cobh Ramblers defeated Waterford United 2 nil, while 2-1 victories were recorded by Dublin City and St Patricks Athletic over Kildare County and Bray Wanderers in Pool D.

St Kevins Boys reach Cup Final03/04/2006
The Club sponsored St Kevins U13 side reached the final of the DDSL Liam Brady Cup at the weekend. A fine 4-1 victory over long time rivals Lourdes Celtic ensured the boys will again grace a cup final at the AUL Complex in Clonshaugh on Saturday 13 May 2006.

Holders Linfield top Setanta Group 203/04/2006
Setanta Cup 2005 winners Linfield, crashed six unanswered goals past Belfast rivals Glentoran tonight in Windsor Park. The victory enabled Linfield to top Group 2, as Shelbourne were held to a 1-1 draw in Tolka Park by Derry City. In the semi-finals, Linfield will be at home to Drogheda United while Shelbourne will travel to Turners Cross to face Cork City. Both matches will take place next week.
