Limerick leave the Eircom League of Ireland?...19/12/2006
It has been confirmed that Limerick FC failed in their appeal against the refusal to grant the club a League Licence and therefore can not participate in the Eircom League of Ireland next season. The FAI has issued a notice, inviting applications from suitably qualified clubs in and around the Limerick area to replace the old Limerick FC in the First Division next season.

The FAI has confirmed the appointment of former PFAI General Secretary Fran Gavin to the new position of Director of the Eircom League of Ireland. The former League goalkeeper Noel Mooney has also been appointed to the new role of National Club Promotions Officer.

2007 Premier Division structure announced...11/12/2006
The twelve teams selected to form the new Eircom FAI Premier League were confirmed today. The revised structure will see Shamrock Rovers and Galway United promoted from last season's first division while Waterford United have been demoted to division one.

Draw made for 2007 Setanta Sports Cup...07/12/2006
The draw for the third staging of the Setanta Sports Cup was made this afternoon and sees holders Drogheda United compete in Group 1 with Derry City and the Belfast duo of Glentoran and Linfield. Group 2 features Cork City and Shelbourne from the Eircom League and Carnegie League representatives Dungannon Swifts and Portadown.

Salthill Devon win Eircom U21 League...06/12/2006
Salthill Devon defeated Cork City by 2 goals to 1 in Terryland Park to win the Eircom U21 League and lift the Dr Tony O'Neill Trophy. The West Galway team were worthy victors and become the first, non national league club to succeed at this level. Salthill Devon boast one of the finest soccer facilities in Ireland and have some 27 teams competing from Under 11 to Junior level.

McCaffrey pleased despite French defeat...06/12/2006
Ireland's U19 team lost 1 nil to France this afternoon. The match took place in the compact Michel Hidalgo Stadium in Paris before a capacity 7,000 crowd. The French goal came from a free kick on 30 minutes, which deflected off the wall into the net. Ireland recovered from a very powerful start by the hosts and came more into the game as time passed. The best scoring opportunities fell to James O'Shea, Scott Davies and captain Robert Bayley but all were denied. Manager Sean McCaffrey expressed satisfaction with the performance of his players, having lost nine from his original squad selection.
