It has been announced this morning that manager Paul Cook
has, by mutual consent, departed Sligo Rovers. It is understood that assistant
manager Gerry Carr will take temporary control of the Club. Lansdowne
Road to host 2011 Europa League Final...29/01/2009
UEFA, together with the Football Association of Ireland and Dublin
City Council today confirmed that the 2011 Europa League Final
will be played at the new Lansdowne Road Stadium. The competition,
formerly the UEFA Cup has been rebranded with effect from this year 2009 and
the 2011 final will be the 40th anniversary of the competition. U21

new manager while UCD have confirmed the appointment of Martin
Russell to their managerial position. The announcement of new signings
Paul Keegan and Brian Shelley, both formerly

would seem to end the recent speculation concerning the manager's tenure at

Futsal squad travel to Northern Spain...23/01/2009
Republic of Ireland Futsal manager Derek O'Neill
takes his squad to Spain for a training camp coupled with a friendly fixture
against Marfil Santa Coloma on Tuesday of next week. The trip
forms part of the preparation for the EuropeanChampionship
Qualifying group which takes place in Dublin from
19th to 22ndFebruary 2009. Ireland will face

FAI Chief Executive John Delaney today announced another Top Tier
League of Ireland sponsorship agreement, with independent broadcaster Newstalk106-108FM. The arrangement, for three years, will commence
in March 2009 and the new partner will will also be title sponsor of the 'Newstalk
AChampionship'. Newstalk joins betting partner Boyle
Sports and communications partner Eircom as part of the restructured commercial

has switched allegiance to St Patrick's Athletic and will take

The triumvirate of newly appointed League of Ireland managers,
Sean Connor, Alan Gough and Stephen
Henderson have each been busy with the acquisition of new players for
their respective clubs. Dundalk manager Connor has followed
up the acquisition of Thomas Heary from Bohemian by signing
Donegal native Sean Kelly from Hearts in Edinburgh while former
Sligo Rovers and Bohemian pair, Darren Mansaren and Harpel
Singh have also signed. New Longford Town boss Gough,
has acquired the services of Colm Jinks and Jason McCarthy
from local rivals Athlone Town.Meanwhile,
new Waterford United manager Henderson has raided former club
Cobh Ramblers to sign Graham Cummins and John Kearney.
