Mark making good progress

Mark Keane of Bohemians, who was the victim of an horrific tackle, resulting in a badly broken leg, just twelve minutes into his competitive debut for Sean McCaffrey’s Republic of Ireland Under 19 team against Northern Ireland in Cork during mid October, is back on his feet again.

Mark is now walking unaided but still with a limp and continues under medical supervision. Mark told me today, that his specialist is pleased with his progress from the actual fracture but he does have problems with damaged nerves. Mark will meet with the consultant later this month and is hoping to receive a positive verdict on his ability to resume light training.

While the Elite Group stage of the UEFA U19 Championships, taking place in Slovakia during May, may be a little early in his recovery schedule, Mark believes his international team mates are more than capable of winning their tough qualifying group and reaching the championship finals scheduled for Poland in late July 2006.

We at RISSC (London) extend our best wishes to Mark for a successful and speedy recovery from his injuries and look forward to seeing him resume his career with both club and country.
