Ireland win again in Women's EURO 2009 qualifiers...27/10/2007
The Republic of Ireland, managed by Noel King, scored a 2-1 EURO 2009 qualifying success over Romania in Richmond Park this afternoon. The Irish goals both came in the first half from, Michelle O'Brien and Stephanie Curtis. The visitors did pull a goal back but Ireland were in command throughout and have further consolidated their second place position in Qualifying Group 2


U17 Women succumb to Sweden but still qualify...24/10/2007
The Republic of Ireland Women's Under 17 team was defeated 2-1 in their final UEFA Group 6 qualifying match by favourites Sweden in Antalya, Turkey this afternoon. Ireland matched the highly rated Scandanavians throughout the match and were worthy of at least a draw. Ireland's runners-up position means they qualify for the next Elite Stage as one of the best second placed teams.


Stephen Staunton departs Ireland role...24/10/2007
A short press release, issued in the early hours of this morning, confirmed that Stephen Staunton and the FAI have reached agreement to terminate his contract as manager of the Republic of Ireland soccer team. Coaches Kevin McDonald and Alan Kelly have also departed. Under 21 manager Don Givens will take charge of the side for the final EURO 2008 qualifier against Wales next month.

Butler's Boys claim victory in Armagh...23/10/2007
The Republic of Ireland Under 16 side, managed by Vincent Butler scored a 1-0 success over Northern Ireland at Holm Park, Armagh City this evening. Cherry Orchard centre back Mark O'Brien scored the winner in the 35th minute. Butler's Boys dominated throughout and were unlucky not to succeed by a greater margin

Butler's Boys slip up in the North...22/10/2007
The Republic of Ireland Under 16 side, managed by Vincent Butler was defeated on a 2-1 scoreline by Northern Ireland at Lakeview Park, Loughall this evening. Robert Brady of St Kevin's Boys scored the goal for Butler's Boys.

Derry City lift Enda McGuill Under 21 Cup ...21/10/2007
Derry City striker David McDaid scored the only goal of the game after twelve minutes to defeat a gallant Bray Wanderers, for whom the impressive Jamie Duff was very influential, in today's final of the Enda McGuill Under 21 Cup.


League leaders prove too strong for RISSC (London)...21/10/2007
The RISSC (London) football team put in a sterling performance before succumbing 3-1 to APFSCIL Division One league leaders London Hibs SC at the Civil Service Sports Ground this afternoon.

International call-up for St Kevin's players...20/10/2007
The RISSC (London) sponsored St Kevin's Boys U15 team is without a fixture this weekend as five players from the club have been selected in the Republic of Ireland Under 16 squad to play two fixtures against Northern Ireland on Monday and Tuesday of next week. Robert Brady, Conor Carberry and Conor Murphy are in the Monday squad while Anthony Bolger and Jeff Hendrick are in the Tuesday squad.

Dismal display draws gasps of disbelief...17/10/2007
The bright shoots of hope engendered by the performance against Germany were shattered in Croke Park this evening. A Steve Finnan goal in the 92nd minute provided Ireland with an undeserved equaliser against Cyprus in a one all draw. With very few exceptions, the team failed to build on their promising outing of Saturday and the majority of supporters left the Stadium aghast with disbelief at a very poor performance.

Under 21s lose UEFA Qualifier in Cork...16/10/2007
Republic of Ireland U21 manager Don Givens expressed disappointment only with the result, a 3-0 defeat by England, in tonight's UEFA qualifier played at a packed Turner's Cross.
Two bad individual errors and a deflected goal gave the visitors a three goal advantage after 27 minutes. Ireland played with passion, poise and purpose throughout the match and must be staggered at the severity of defeat, which in no way reflected the balance of play.

The Irish Defence Forces exited the World Military Games today when they were defeated 2-0 by Qatar at the quater-final knockout stage.

Ireland lose heavily in Military World Games ...14/10/2007
The Irish Defence Forces final group fixture against holders Egypt resulted in a 7-0 trouncing today. Despite the result, Ireland had already qualified for the quarter-final stage where they will meet Qatar on Wednesday.

St Kevin's Boys disappointed with draw...14/10/2007
St Kevin's Boys conceded a last minute equaliser to old rivals Belvedere at the AUL Complex this morning. A superb individual goal from Robbie Brady gave St Kevin's the lead but Belvedere drew level with a cracking free kick which gave goalkeeper Ryan Kinsella no chance. St Kevin's regained the lead on the stroke of half time when centre back Cian Bolger powered home a header from a Brady corner. The boys had a number of chances to put the result beyond doubt but failed to score. They paid the ultimate penalty in the last minutes when Belvedere scored following a corner.
