The Republic of Ireland amateur representative squad got off the a solid start in the Regions Cup in Poland today, drawing 1-1 to a strong Romanian side from Dacia. They went behind after only 17th minutes.

They fought back to equalise within 7 minutes with a goal by Sean O'Connor, as he blasted in a rebound from John O' Neill's shot which deflected off the post.

The Irish team dominated the rest of the game, but were unable to breach the Romanian defence, their goalkeeper was on song and made a string of top quality saves to deny the attack minded Irish team.
