Noel King's Republic of Ireland Senior Women's team put in a courageous display against Italy in their second UEFA Championship qualifier played at Belfield Park tonight, but were defeated by two goals to one.

League disappointment for St Kevin's Boys...30/05/2007
In a preview of their imminent DDSL Thunder Cup Final, St Kevin's Boys and Shelbourne played out a three all draw in tonight's league encounter. The result, coupled with close rivals Belvedere's win tonight, means that Bevedere are League Champions. St Kevin's goals came via Anthony Bolger, Robbie Brady and Conor Murphy.

Butler's Boys retain Celtic Tri-Nation Trophy...27/05/2007
A brace of goals from Republic of Ireland and St Kevin's Boy's captain Robbie Brady in Ireland 'A's 4-2 victory over Wales 'A' at the Shanowen Road Complex this afternoon helped Vincent Butler and coach Niall Harrison's sides to win the Celtic Tri-Nation Trophy for the third successive year.

The exertions of cup and international matches finally caught up with the U14 boys of St Kevin's on Wednesday evening and they lost a vital league encounter against Stella Maris to the only goal of the game. League leaders Belvedere consolidated their position at the top and are almost certain to take the title.

Doyle header secures draw in New York...24/05/2007
A magnificent first half diving header by Kevin Doyle, from a Daryl Murphy cross, equalised an early goal for Ecuador and earned Ireland a 1-1 draw in the Giants Stadium tonight. Stephen Staunton's side started with seven debutants and by the end that number had grown to eleven with the introduction as substitutes of Gamble, Gleeson, O'Cearuill and American born college star Joseph Lapira.

Eircom semi-professionals crash to England...22/05/2007
A young Eircom League team was defeated 5 nil by an experienced England outfit in their opening Four Nations Semi-Professional Tournament game in Inverness tonight. The squad, managed by Mick Neville, will now re-group and hope to put in a better performance against Wales, one nil victors over hosts Scotland, in Brora on Friday evening.

St Kevin's Boys win SFAI Goodson Cup Final... 20/05/2007
Second-half goals from Anthony Bolger and Eoin Wearen gave St Kevin's Boys U14 team a 2-1 SFAI Cup Final success over Salthill Devon from Galway this afternoon. The victory, in the match played at Home Farm FC, was the boys third consecutive SFAI National Cup triumph at underage level.



Cruel UEFA exit for Ireland U19s...19/05/2007
The cruelty and injustice, that sometimes prevails in sport, was emphasised tonight when Sean McCaffrey's U19 team scored a well deserved 2 nil success over Hungary. Ireland had been the dominant team throughout this Elite UEFA Championship Qualifying Group, but the hugely debateable penalty awarded to Germany on Wednesday night means that Germany, and not Ireland, will proceed to the Championship Finals in Austria.

this afternoon, a major new €150,000 sponsorship deal with Umbro to promote women's football at all levels across the country. In addition, manager Noel King announced his squad for the forthcoming UEFA Championship qualifying match with Italy which will be played at Belfield Park, UCD on Wednesday 30 May 2007.

Vincent Butler's Republic of Ireland U15 team lost 3-1 to Belgium in their opening Triangular Tournament fixture in Switzerland this afternoon. Ireland will face the hosts tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon.

The First Instance Licencing Committee of the League of Ireland has imposed a six point deduction on Longford Town for failing to meet their obligations under the financial criteria of the 2007 Club Licencing Manual. The Club has five working days to appeal the decision.

A hat-trick in the first 15 minutes from Stoke City striker, Adam Rooney, gave Ireland a 3-0 victory over Bulgaria in their UEFA Championship opening fixture tonight.




Drogheda prevail in dramatic Setanta Cup Final...12/05/2007
An exciting Setanta Cup Final provided value for money in Windsor Park, Belfast tonight. Linfield and Drogheda United fought out a 1-1 draw after extra time and the destination of the Trophy was decided by a penalty shoot-out. Drogheda who, following a penalty miss, had come from behind during the match also had to recover from missing the opening shoot-out penalty to eventually win 4-3 and deservedly retain the Trophy.

Killester United win first FAI Junior Cup...06/05/2007
AUL Premier League leaders Killester United won the Statoil FAI Junior Cup for the first time with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over St John Bosco FC in Dalymount Park this afternoon. Two goals from David Lacey and one from Ian Graham within the first thirty minutes set the seal on their success.

The U14 boys of St Kevin's continued their pursuit of the DDSL Premier Division title with a 7-1 defeat of Home Farm this morning. A hat-trick from, the currently on fire, Ethan Mannion together with strikes from Robert Brady, Conor Carberry, Conor Murphy and Eoin Wearen adorned an emphatic victory.

Drogheda held in the RSC Waterford...04/05/2007
Drogheda United failed to fully capitalise on last night's defeat for Eircom League of Ireland Premier Division leaders St Patrick's Athletic, when they were held to a 1-1 draw by bottom of the table Waterford United. A Ger Rowe goal in added time, gave Shamrock Rovers a 1 nil victory over Sligo Rovers while the points were shared in the meetings of Bohemian and UCD in Dalymount Park and Galway United and Derry City at Terryland Park.

The Football Association of Ireland Schools team was unable to secure the victory necesasary to share the Centenery Shield with England and had to rely on a late own goal to secure a point against Northern Ireland Schools at Institute FC in Derry tonight.

DDSL Cup Final for St Kevin's Boys...02/05/2007
St Kevin' Boys continued their exhausting schedule with an excellent 3-0 DDSL Thunder Cup semi-final victory over Ballyfermot United this evening. The goals were scored by Ethan Mannion, Conor Murphy and Eoin Wearen. The team next face Home Farm on Saturday and Shelbourne on Monday in two DDSL U14 Premier League fixtures.
