No change in Eircom Division One |
![]() |
| Athlone Town were the only team in the division to make progress this weekend when they travelled to Century Homes Park, Monaghan, the temporary home of Dundalk, and returned to the midlands with a 1-0 victory. The biggest surprise of the weekend came at Tolka Park on Sunday afternoon where beleaguered Kilkenny City, six points adrift at the foot of the division, defended valiantly and held league leaders Dublin City to a scoreless draw. Second placed Cobh Ramblers travelled to the home of Munster rivals Limerick and were happy to share the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Third placed Sligo Rovers were also on the road and they were disappointed to concede a late equaliser to pre season favourites Kildare County in an exciting four goal affair in Newbridge. The final game of the weekend saw struggling Galway United entertain Monaghan United in Terryland Park and not surprisingly, the game ended in a 1-1 draw. The highlight of next weekend’s Series Eleven fixtures is undoubtedly the Saturday night encounter in the Showgrounds between Sligo Rovers and leaders Dublin City. Second placed Cobh Ramblers entertain the thoroughbreds of Kildare County while this week’s success side, Athlone Town will have Galway United as visitors on Friday night. Bottom
side Kilkenny City will travel north on Saturday evening to Century
Homes Park, where Dundalk remain in temporary residence while landlords,
Monaghan United will entertain Limerick at their traditional Sunday
afternoon kick off time of 3.00pm.
