FAI Youth Cup Review

Sligo Rovers

This eagerly awaited FAI Cup Final clash between Dublin club, Belvedere who have twice been successful in the competition, winning in 1991 and again in 1999, and final debutants, Sligo Rovers is expected to provide a feast of entertaining football at Richmond Park, Inchicore next Sunday afternoon.

Both teams have had very tough battles on their way to the final with Sligo Rovers overcoming last year’s winners Erris United in the quarter-final before defeating the highly rated Limerick side, Wembley Rovers by a solitary goal in the semi-final.

Belvedere also had a difficult passage to the final with their semi-final victory over Dublin rivals Home Farm coming by way of a penalty shoot-out after the sides had fought out an enthralling game over two hours.

If the scores are level at the end of the game, extra time will be played and should the match still remain level then a replay will take place.
