| With
just one match remaining in each section of the Setanta Cup,
the identity of the Clubs who will contest the final at Tolka
Park on Saturday 21 May 2005 remains unknown.
In
Group One, Linfield’s victory over Longford Town at Windsor
Park on Tuesday night eliminated the Eircom League team from
the competition. The winners of the group will emerge on Monday
evening next 16 May 2005 when Linfield travel across Belfast
to The Oval to meet bitter rivals Glentoran.
The
winner of Group Two will also be confirmed on Monday next when
Irish League side Portadown, who are already eliminated from
the competition, travel south to face Cork City at Turners Cross.
City will be seeking a two goal victory which will enable them
to leapfrog their Dublin rivals, Shelbourne and reach the lucrative
final.
The
Final, which has a scheduled 19.30 hours kick off at Tolka Park
on Saturday 21 May 2005, will therefore be a north/south affair
and while not admitting it, the organisers must be delighted
with the outcome of the group stages which has resulted in a
cross border finale to this inaugural competition.
