- Hugh
Colhoun The
International Team competes annually for the Centenary Shield and
the Celtic Cup is also at stake in the Northern Ireland fixture. FAIS
won both trophies last year and also in 2005, but lost out to England
in both the 2006 and 2007 competitions. The
2009 season kicks off with a home fixture against Wales on Thursday
26 February. The match is scheduled for 7.00pm in Ferrycarrig Park,
Wexford. On the same evening, the Northern Ireland Schools play host
to Scotland Schools. FAIS
then face two away fixtures on successive Friday nights, the 13th
and 20th March 2009. They first take on Scotland at Tynecastle FC
and then travel to Ballymoney to meet Northern Ireland, when the Celtic
Cup will also be at stake. The
Centenary Shield Competition will climax in Buckley Park, Kilkenny
on Friday 24 April 2009 when the FAI Schools play host to England
Schools. Manager
Hugh Calhoun will take his squad to Jersey during the first week of
February 2009 where they will meet Guernsey, Northern Ireland and
the hosts in a Quadrangular Tournament.
