The 2009 Charity Quiz was organised on a table basis
with teams comprising three members. Each team sought to answer a set
of ten questions over a range of categories within a prescribed time
limit. There were eight series of questions together with a pictorial
set amounting to an overall total of 120 questions.
Twenty eight teams entered the competition, including
two teams who had travelled to the event from Wicklow. Quizmaster for
the event was Michael Mulvaney.
The quiz was interspersed with a raffle which also contributed to the
charity. Our gratitude goes to our Director of Sales (Raffle), Sean
O'Halloran who cajoled and persuaded the attendees to part with some
additional funds.
At the end of nine rounds of forensic like examination,
the top two positions were filled by the visiting teams from Wicklow.
The winning trio comprised Niall Esmonde, Colm Finnegan and Stephen
McNulty.
The evening
raised a magnificent £840 for the designated Charities
and a sincere thank you is extended to all who contributed to the success
of the event by their
attendance.
The Club will top off the donation to a total of £1,000, with
£500 being provided to each Charity.
Grateful
thanks is also extended to those club members who have made donations,
even though they were unable to be present on the night.
